Hello pple, i'm too lazy to retype a recount of the meal. So i juz copy paste the review that i wrote on hungrygowhere.com. haha. Ok lah, i edited some pronouns so tt it'll sound more sensible. Happy reading.
*Warning* Do not salivate on your keyboard.
On my first visit to Le Bistrot, i was generally pleased with the entree and main. I had this deep-fried pork cube thing that consisted mainly of pork fat. I'm not really a fan of pre-rendered lard, but it was quite alright with some refreshing vegetables at the side to soothe my palate a little. I had duck leg confit for mains. The duck leg was good, but not as good as i had expected it to be, there was mashed potato w/ vinaigrette sauce for sides but the potato wasnt really to my liking. However, the desserts i had were FABULOUS, i ordered the Grand Chocolat Chaud. Its this huge set of desserts, consisting of macaroons, chocolate chip ice cream, a shot of trinidad rum, a pot of hot milk and a seperate molten chocolate to make ure own hot chocolate drink. I loved the chocolate chip ice cream cos it was special. it wasnt really choc chips in the ice cream, they were more like crunchy choc flakes in the ice cream. It was HEAVENLY! On my first visit, i tot that the customer service was definitely above average but the ambience of the place was rather intimidating for 1st time visitors.
These are some pics of the dining space at Le Bistrot
I managed to 'gop' some pics from the internet thx to my magnificient searchbar skills. I had to 'gop' Bcos Aron forgot to bring his digicam, my hp was out of batt & CY's N95 was under repair.
On my second visit, i went there with Aron and Chee Yong to celebrate Chee Yong's Birthday. This time, the experience was really enjoyable. The lady waitress was very friendly and humorous, she totally made us feel comfortable being there(she wasnt there on our 1st visit). I didnt feel so out of place anymore.
Becos we bought a ice cream Bday cake, we had to borrow their freezer to store the cake till the end of our meal. The lady very readily agreed to lend us their freezer space when i called to make reservations. We were very well attended to throughout the whole meal and the waiter/eses were polite and yet not intimidating. This time around, I had grilled goat cheese for entree.
The goat cheese was savoury and not too oily. I couldnt detect any of the "goaty" smell from the cheese. But i thot the serving was a little too huge for one. Especially since I was having 3 courses. Grilled Goat Cheese on toast(entree)
For mains, i had Grilled Salmon and it was good good good. I especially loved the sauce that accompanied the salmon, it complimented the natural flavour of the salmon very well. The salmon was done in a special way such that the heart of the steak was left slightly uncooked. Don't start imagining sashimi in the middle, its more like moist salmon meat in the middle. I loved it vry much!
For desserts, i had L'Imperial.
It is actually cold fruit soup. It consists of 2 scoops of mango-passionfruit sorbet, macerated fraises des bois(wild strawberries) and peppercorns, then at your table, the waiter starts topping up the dessert with a generous serving of champagne. Some people might not like the taste of this dessert becos of the bitterness of the champagne and the rather weird way to eat a dessert with peppercorns, at least for asians. I didnt really like it at first too, but by the time i finished half a bowl, the dessert was really growing on me. It tastes better and better, spoon after spoon. By the time i reached the bottom, the dessert got sweeter and it was really an alternative experience.
Also, our cake was originally packaged in a swensen's cardboard box. I expected them to perhaps remove the box and serve us the cake as it is. But when we asked for the Birthday cake to be brought to our table, it was very elegantly presented on 2 big plates, the bigger one at the bottom was filled with dry ice(perhaps leftovers from the ice cream box) and another plate above it held the cake. I was impressed with the effort they put in to impress their customers and make every moment enjoyable. It was definitely above my expectations. The waitress even initiated and joined us in singing a Birthday song for CY. We were actually a little apprehensive(altho i was drunk), becos Le Bistrot is a rather quiet and peaceful place to begin with. It might have been rude of us to break the peacefullness with a Birthday song, haha.
I'd juz like to point out that customer service might vary depending on the waiter and waitresses on shift but you can be assured that the service will definitely be satisfactory even if u'r a fussy person like me.We were very lucky to be in the service of such a nice and friendly lady tonight. And i'm looking forward to my next visit there. I definitely recommend you guys to try out this place for yourselves. Also, they will be introducing a brand new menu in July 08, so you might wanna try their current menu and by the time you pay a recurring visit, you might be able to try their new menu!

CY's Bday cake (Death By Chocolate) from the swensen's website. LOL.
Once more, HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHEE YONG!
