When?
I had ALOT to eat today, really must convince myself not to eat the staples for dinner later. I should just have the meat and veggies. But its typical of me to say one and do the other.

Haemophobia
Totally fainted for like 10secs when i accidentally chopped my thumb while slicing apples. FML. But the blood really wouldn't stop flowing. Hopefully i'll lose some calories from all the blood lost and trauma I had to go through. Call me ball-less but a phobia is a phobia.

Hooga
I can't seem to find back my mood for baking. It's just not in me for now. Made some Caramel sauce for my Sis's pancakes today. Banana caramel pancakes, Blueberry caramel pancakes, Banana chocolate chip pancakes, Blueberry chocolate pancakes, Peach caramel pancakes. All kinds of funny concoctions. While the wholemeal-from-scratch pancake batter was good, I still prefer my good old pancake mix for that familiar childhood taste. Its just so much more awesome.
Its 1pm and I'm trying to convince myself to go out for a long walk to shed off some fats instead of lazing at home. It's really a difficult battle. FML

Inflated Meals
It better not rain in the evening. I'm gonna go for a long walk and rape the stairs after that! I'm gonna be stomping up flights of stairs like nobody's business. Something out there, please bestow me with boundless energy and determination. Kthxbye.
PS: Rain till your heart's content now, not later.

Busted the scale once more and i was lazing at home the whole time. I'm such a pig! So much time and all I can do is nap and use the com. Although I must say that i made a new discovery today! I occasionally use BB cream (introduced by Kailing when we were in Shanghai, BB 霜) to cover some blemishes when i have breakouts or during days when i feel especially inferior. But today, I was watching TV and got hooked onto the reruns on Channel U. They were introducing a CC Cream that is the evolved form of the now ubiquitous BB Cream. Its supposed to give a rosy and more natural complexion compared to BB cream which forms a pasty and mask like grayish-ness. After a few searches online, Rachel K's CC Cream seemed to be the cream of the crop in our local market. The problem is that it only has one shade currently formulated for fair skinned users. There's word from the Rachel K facebook page that they will be rolling out a new range of CC Cream for users with darker tones sometime this year. So now I'm torn between getting the CC Cream available now or to wait patiently for the new shades to be introduced to the market while living with my current Skin79 Men BB cream. Shall check it out tomorrow at the Watson's store after work!

Massive dinner with Aron and Chee Yong today but they were all in small portions, so don't freak out. Its a Penang restaurant so, please just add a "Penang" in front of every food item listed below.
Assam laksa
Char kuay teow
Prawn mee
Lor bak
Belacan chicken wings
Sambal stingray
Chendol
Ice kachang
Bandung grass jelly - CHEATED (800kcal)
Fat buster level - 2270kcal FML.
Call me cheap but my favourite food item was actually the Bandung grass jelly drink! I never knew that milky Bandung went so well with Grass jelly. A nice twist to our local Soya grass jelly. I originally wanted to try the Ba long long drink but it wasn't available. *stabs myself repeatedly in the heart*
The food was pretty decent but not fantastic. I mean I remember them tasting a lot more fantastic when I had them in Penang. Well...
I'm still waiting for my HCM tailor to reply my email. I sent him an email to ask for a quote on tailor made items, even attached an example of what I wanted to make but he hasn't replied me yet. I suspect he doesn't understand what "quote" means>

Ji Jie's back which calls for a gathering that has been long due.

Dinner at River Palace tonight was awesome! We were supposed to have the ala carte buffet dinner priced at $20.80 each but somehow they changed the price to $38.80. The GSS promotion of 30% off all ala carte items further deterred us from going ahead with the buffet. So we ended up settling for an ala carte dinner. The food was indeed worthy of a Cheena Hotel. We ordered a Stir Fried fish with ginger and spring onion, Braised mushroom broccoli, Roasted duck crispy wrap, Hor fun & Olive Char Siew fried rice. Especially loved the fried rice I know its kinda lame to love fried rice but it really went well with my palate. I really might go back there again if the hotel wasn't so out of place..
PS: Ziwei's a mad hatter shopper. Rush rush rush!

Everyone who's on a permanent diet or like me, SAYS THAT they are on a diet but act otherwise would probably heard of a method to control what you eat. Its called the Food Notebook, where you write down what you have eaten for the day to reflect back on what you should have eaten and what you shouldn't have. After 3 years of wanting to do this, I've decided to start it TODAY! Where else am i gonna do it than on blogger. So from now on, I shall list down whatever I have eaten for the day and rate the FATBUSTER level myself. This might actually encourage me to write a little more about my self proclaimed epicurean lifestyle too :)
Dear friends, please note that I actually consume this thing called Fat Blockers occasionally for extra sinful meals! Don't judge me, I don't want to go back to being a Ba Zhang. Everytime I take my Fat Blockers before a certain meal, i will add a CHEATED beside it just for a more accurate kcal calculation!
Breakfast:
1 small pack of mock duck kway teow from my mum (450kcal)
1 green apple (70kcal)
1 small bowl of rockmelon (70kcal)
Lunch:
Peranakan food at Peranakan Inn & Lounge with my sister
Babi Ponteh
Ngoh Hiang
Sambal long beans
Half a portion of rice
1 cup of cold barley (400kcal) - CHEATED
Tea:
Shared Almond paste, Tang Yuan and Chendol with my sister (500kcal)
1 Jacob's Cream Cracker (40kcal)
Dinner:
1 Reese's peanut butter chocolate wafer (220kcal)
Conclusion: 1750kcal consumed today (8.15pm)
Well, this seems alright mainly because i CHEATED. Otherwise I would probably have busted the scale!
Lets talk back about the Peranakan lunch I had today. I've always wanted to try this particular restaurant. I would always pass by the restaurant whenever I take bus 14 back home from Town. I just love the rustic feel and colourful Peranakan tiles on the outer walls of the restaurant. To be honest, my original intention today was to go for Dim Sum at Mongkok Dim Sum at Katong. Unfortunately they weren't open for business today so my sister and I had to settle for somewhere else that was around the area. Then, I caught Peranakan Inn at the corner of my eye and I knew we had to go there! Please note that my sister is also a rather diverse eater whose resume is definitely comparable to mine. I would not call myself a connoisseur mainly because there's so much out there that I haven't tried and probably won't be able to try until I'm older due to monetary constraints. As such, i shall only refer to myself as an Epicurean. Food always manages to overpower my senses and emotions. Whenever I'm feeling down or frustrated, give me some good food and I'll back in the game, pronto!
ep·i·cu·re·an
adj.
1. Devoted to the pursuit of sensual pleasure, especially to the enjoyment of good food and comfort.
Whenever I think of Peranakan food, my distant memories of the Malacca trip I made back in 2003 resurfaces back into my mind. The most vivid memory I had of the Peranakan restaurant in Malacca was its dim orange lights and my favourite dish, Steamed brinjal in a tangy sambal sauce. Sadly, that dish wasn't available at Peranakan Inn. Still there were many dishes I wanted to try, like Babi Ponteh which I managed to sample, as well as Ayam Buah Keluah. Sadly, my sister had a nasty affair with a certain Ayam Buah Keluah at another Peranakan restaurant along Katong. Hence, she was wary about trying it again. Still, i must say that the Babi Buah Keluah we had was quite something, I definitely couldn't resist the black sauce that I used to mix with my portion of white rice! It was so Asian and SO GOOD. The meat was cooked just right, not too soft but the meat could be separated along the grains easily with the humble metal spoon. The Ngoh Hiang didn't impress my sister much but it was rather satisfying to me. As another Hungrygowhere reviewer commented, " not the best in the world ngor hiang - but it'd do for me!" Well, I shared similar sentiments but I must comment that a piece of Ngoh Hiang I had hid a piece of juicy fatty meat that made it oh-so-unique for me. I mean, i'm rather sick of having ngoh hiang that contains only lean meat. The Sambal long bean we had was fried with generous portions of seeafood like sotong and prawns giving it a rather homely feel compared to your regular restaurants that only served vegetable as vegetables, nothing else.
The pricing for the food items were rather reasonable as well. I don't if its just me but I always thought Peranakan food was priced exorbitantly. This place sure didn't hurt our pockets too badly! Our bill came up to a reasonable $25.
PS: Can't wait for dinner tomorrow!

Fat
I've decided to go on a healthier diet for the next two days, bearing in mind that I will be having a rather unhealthy weekend consisting of really extravagant meals :D
Hopefully they live up to my expectations :)
Finally got to try SG's Baskin Robbins at Novena Square with Kai Ling for my Birthday treat! Had a thriple scoop of Cotton Candy, Pistachio Almond and Perils of Praline. I know I've said this many times but colourful Cotton Candy always reminds me of Katy Perry..
I'm rather broke now after paying my sister for all the purchases I've made online using her card. Gotta spend wisely for now! At least for the next 3 weeks :D
PS: I've been having a nagging craving for Fish & Chips. Is that my comfort food?

Birthday @ Home
Celebrated my 21st Birthday at home with probably the most understated Birthday Cake in the world. From the proud bakers of Flourpeople! Really loved the fluffiness of the cake even though it was so rich in nuts and some red jam thingy. Haven't figured out what it is yet.
Mum cooked lots of good food, kind of like a banquet. Fried chicken in Thai sauce, Chilli Crayfish, Assam Prawns, Teowchew Steamed Fish. Home cooked food always RULES!
PS: Need really really proper financial management this time.
